Right of Return - an update

Right of Return - an update

UK citizens returning to the UK with their family members under the Surinder Singh grace period

Given the confusion and complexity that surrounds the process for using the grace period, we have been active on two main fronts:

(1) advocacy on this issue vis-à-vis the Home Office and FCDO (we will be posting a blog setting out what we have done shortly) and,

(2) talking to different organisations in the UK to discuss better how to support those going through the process now (and in the future once the grace period ends).

Following our discussions with the AIRE Centre, they have kindly prepared an information sheet on applications to the EUSS via the Surinder Singh route which can be found here and sets out the process in detail.

The note covers who is eligible to apply, relevant deadlines, required evidence and how to submit an application. The AIRE Centre has asked us to circulate the link to our members and networks if useful - and we are very happy to do so.

In case useful, they have provided a the link to the page containing all of their info sheets. As you will see, there is a link to a survey asking people to respond to let them know how useful the info sheets are to them, which is available here. We are circulating these links as AIRE Centre would also really appreciate your responses to the survey as it helps with their reporting requirements and also helps them to make the resources more useful!

In terms of specific individual cases, if you come up against difficulties such as serious delays, refusals, or where it appears that your case falls within the conditions but the application is not being progressed, details of these cases can be sent to their info account, as this is monitored daily: info@airecentre.org

Note: If AIRE Centre are going to contact the HO on your behalf concerning an individual case, they will need you to sign their FOA (attached) authorising them to do so.
