New Year Honour for Jeremy Morgan
We are delighted to announce that our Vice Chair, Jeremy Morgan QC, has been awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to UK nationals in Europe and UK nationals in Italy for his tireless work on the BiE steering committee from 2017-2021.
Says Jeremy: "I feel very privileged to be given this award, but it is really a recognition of the struggle of all of us in British in Europe and British in Italy who refused to accept that the consequence of the ill-considered referendum should be that European Citizens should lose their rights. In that struggle British citizens in the EU and the3million group of EU citizens in the UK always worked closely together and showed how much more can be achieved when narrow nationalist self-interest is put aside."
Due to lack of funding, British in Europe is now winding down and aims to cease activities at the end of January after the delayed Joint Specialised Committee on Citizens' Rights.
